Hi

I am very new at working in a 3D pipeline so I am not sure whether there is a simple solution, work around or whether this is a common frustration.

I  have a ground geometry with some dirt, grass and rock material blended together with masks in a redshift blender, my problem is that even through using masks makes my part of the job easier with smooth transitions and one geometry the post production guys aren't to fan of this as I then (to my knowledge can't add different material IDs to this very different surfaces. Is there a way around this to be able to add different material IDs other than face select (which I have always been warned against), or extract the different parts of the surfaces.

Oh yeah and I use maya 2016 and redshift latest version.

Thank you for any advice and response
