Scaling a model that has blend shapes connected to it

Hello,

I am still new at rigging and would love any help I can get. I'm working from Maya 2016 and after rigging my little model I learned that it was too small to import into Unreal and Marvelous Designer.
I have a global control set up and was able to scale my rig up to the right size but the blend shapes, which were a separate group from the rig/skeleton and mesh, did not scale up with the others.
Once scaled up the blend shapes would not deform properly like they did when the model was smaller. I've tried going around that specific problem by making a new blend shape from the scaled up model but once the blend shape is connected to the mesh and I change the value from 0 to 1 it makes the mesh humongous.
