Hello,

I am Matsuda123, new to the forums. I'm really interested in making custom models for a game called Civilization IV, as the game has the capability to be modified very easily. The only issue is, I don't know what I am doing in terms of file format.

The game's models are all .nif files, which I can import to Maya by using the .obj file format. I modified the models, then I exported the model as an .obj file to open with Blender. I tried converting the .obj file with Blender to a .nif file, and saw a whole host of errors preventing me from doing so. So I am now wondering, is there any way I can import and export a .nif file with Maya 2015?

Secondly, whenever I have modified these models, I have often needed to make cuts on them. Later, I need to merge the two edges sitting right beside each other back together, but no matter what tool I used, they would not reform into one edge. Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you.

P.S. I use a Mac, I don't know if that affects this at all.
